VanDyne SuperTurbo™ Wins the Frost & Sullivan 2012 Automotive Powertrain New Product Innovation Award

November 14, 2012

Ft. Collins, CO – November 14, 2012 – VanDyne SuperTurbo, Inc. has announces that they are proud to receive the 2012 North American New Product Innovation Award in the Automotive Powertrain Market, based on the findings of the Best Practices research of Frost & Sullivan.

“The most innovative factor of the VanDyne SuperTurbo is that it mechanically controls the speed ratio between the engine and the turbine or the compressor wheels. VanDyne has developed a proprietary high speed drive system that provides efficient and reliable torque transfer on and off high-speed rotating parts. When combined with the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), the engine management system (EMS) can develop or generate the desired boost pressure at any engine speed.” said the analyst from Frost & Sullivan.

VanDyne SuperTurbo, Inc. has also increased its funding from $8 to $10 million from Northwater Capital’s Intellectual Property Fund. Proceeds from the financing will speed up the commercialization of the Heavy Duty SuperTurbo™ for On-Highway Trucks and construction equipment. “Thanks to Northwater we are going to be able to take the SuperTurbo from a prototype into a retrofit product in the next two years” said Ed VanDyne, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Company. “This round of funding will allow the company to put the SuperTurbo through the rigorous durability testing required by the trucking industry”.

The VanDyne SuperTurbo technology integrates the functions of supercharging and turbocharging into a single device, by combining high efficiency turbomachinery with its own dedicated CVT transmission. This combination allows a third function called turbocompounding, which increases the efficiency of an engine from the collection of waste heat energy in the exhaust pipe. The SuperTurbo promises to deliver up to 6% efficiency gains to On-Highway Heavy Duty Trucks.
